Pamela Riess, CEO
Pamela has been in the search business for nearly 20 years. She focuses exclusively on the nonprofit sector, conducting executive leadership searches for a wide variety of nonprofit clients. She has been the lead consultant and primary client contact on a broad range of regional, national, and international searches. Through this work, she has developed an extensive network of relationships with nonprofit leaders, a deep understanding of the skills and experiences that make candidates successful, and knowledge of the institutional conditions necessary for supporting that success. She is particularly adept at understanding the culture of a client organization and identifying people who will thrive there. She has a BA in English from Brown University and an MFA in Fiction Writing from New York University.


Carol Lee, Senior Vice President, Executive Search
Carol joined PBR Executive Search in 2018 and has been the primary client contact on a range of fundraising, program, and organizational leadership searches in a variety of sectors. She brings intellectual rigor and strong project management skills to her executive search work; she serves as a thought partner to clients and candidates and leads well-run, transparent, and highly effective processes that result in transformative hires. Prior to executive search, Carol worked for 15 years in K-12 public education at high-growth organizations; she has served as a teacher at Brooke Mattapan Charter School, recruiter at KIPP NYC, and administrator at Relay Graduate School of Education/Relay Lab Schools. She has an A.B. in History and Certificate in Musical Performance from Princeton University.


Mandy Casamassima, Vice President, Executive Search and Operations
Mandy joined PBR Executive Search in 2017. She began her career as a corps member with Teach For America in the South Bronx. From there, she joined KIPP NYC, where she built the region’s operational arm and led the Shared Services Team (responsible for fundraising, operations, human resources, finance, technology, and board development/engagement). Mandy spent close to ten years at KIPP NYC and was a key member of the leadership team that grew the organization from an operating budget of $2M in 1999 to over $24M upon her departure in 2009. Mandy brings to PBR Executive Search and our clients a proven track record of helping teams and organizations function at their best. She graduated cum laude from Boston College with a major in Art History and minor in Women’s Studies.


Megan Johnson, Vice President, Executive Search and Research
Megan has been with PBR Executive Search since 2012 and previously spent eight years as talent and human resources business partner in the corporate sector. She has frontline experience in candidate search and development, onboarding, performance management, workforce reductions, and expat assignments. She works closely with the consultants on the team to develop and execute the research strategy for each search and is an expert in mining a range of candidate databases for specific qualities and skillsets. She has performed a wide range of volunteer work for organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Start Making a Reader Today (SMART), and Store to Door. Megan holds a B.A. in Psychology from University of Colorado and a Certificate in Human Resource Management from Portland State University.

Niko Kanagawa, Associate Vice President, Executive Search
Niko joins the firm after having spent well over a decade in college admissions, recruiting for Albion College and the University of Michigan-Dearborn. In both roles, he developed relationships with prospective students, school counselors, and assorted stakeholders to provide guidance throughout the college search and selection process. Prior to college admissions, Niko was an executive recruiter for RSMR Global Resources, an executive search firm in Chicago that focused heavily on renewable technology. Before entering the professional sphere, he was a Fulbright Scholar in Heidelberg, Germany, where he taught English and researched the impact of extracurricular involvement on German youth. He holds a BA in German & International Studies from Albion College and an MA in Public Administration & Policy from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

Rebecca Cardwell, Associate Vice President, Executive Search
Rebecca joined PBR Executive Search in 2022 after working across New York City’s cultural scene for more than a decade. Most recently, Rebecca was Director of Development for the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC), where she was responsible for raising the entire annual budget and implemented a capital campaign for LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island. Previously, Rebecca served as Associate Vice President at DUNCH, a leading management firm, where she spearheaded fundraising campaigns and strategic plans for a range of clients in the cultural sector across the USA, Australia, and the UK. Rebecca has taught fundraising to graduate students at Bank Street College of Education and Brooklyn College and served as a guest lecturer in arts management at NYU and Marymount Manhattan, among others. She received her MFA in Performing Arts Management from Brooklyn College and her BA in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Dance from The New School.

Christine Kang, Executive Search Consultant
Christine has more than 15 years of experience as a leader of multi-disciplinary teams, primarily in the world of nonprofits, and she has worked with an array of mission-driven, entrepreneurial organizations. She has served as CEO/Head of Schools at the Brunswick School, COO of the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, Founding Director of Operations of the Brooklyn Urban Garden Charter School, and an Operations Director at the American Museum of Natural History. Christine brings an organizational growth and development lens to search work. She has a Master’s in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design; and she graduated cum laude from Columbia University, where she majored in Architecture and minored in Art History and Economics.


Finn Jubak, Research Analyst
Finn comes to PBR Executive Search with a background as an arts administrator for nonprofits and artists. With a passion for research and organization, he has coordinated numerous film festival premieres, exhibitions, and events across the U.S. and Latin America. He has strong Spanish language skills and is studying Portuguese. Finn graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Chicago in 2018 with a BA in Interdisciplinary Humanities.


Adam Riess, CFO
Adam holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MPH from the Cornell School of Hospitality Management. In addition to his work for PBR, he is the CEO of ProCibo, a restaurant consulting company that provides business planning, financial planning, and project management to restaurants.
